I’m sure that almost every CIO in the world would agree: Oracle is just very, very expensive. The move to Rimini Street support was not complex and the large amount of money we save is reinvested in new projects. Our ITIL runbook accurately reflects the optimal processes to support each application, and subsequently, we’ve been able to deliver a much higher level of service to the business units and collaboratively partner with them to plan for the future. It has been a win-win for everyone.
“With Rimini Street we get the whole package: ultra-responsive service at a reasonable price, the ability to upgrade when it makes sense for us, and premium support features like strategic advisory services. Rimini Street has changed the way we think about support.”
In the case of HCX, when we partnered with Rimini, Rimini is able to support our backend, allowing the core of our IT to focus on our strengths in custom development, HCM implementation, which is what our business also needs for the clients that we are supporting or reaching out.
Finally, a couple of years ago decided that we were going to move to Workday. And Rimini Street's been a great partner to help us move in that direction and make sure that we maintain our data as well as moving in a methodical way so that we could keep business running.
Rimini Street constantly demonstrates that they know how to do this. They have the right talent, the right security, the right cost structure, and most importantly, they are proactive, easy to deal with, and always do what they say they’re going to do.
Time is a luxury. Rimini Street gives me time. I get the ability to thoughtfully go through and figure out what I’m going to replace Oracle with, and then thoughtfully migrate over there.
You [Rimini Street] just deliver on what you commit to doing. And that is really is a wonderful experience – no headaches involved. It never escalates to me, which means it’s being taken care of without me having to get involved.
Instead of just spending labor to do an Oracle upgrade with no value on the back end, I can take what would’ve been technical debt to upgrade the infrastructure and apply that to the new solution. I don’t have to invest 20% of my labor into doing Oracle upgrades every three to five years.
We have been working with Rimini Street for the past few years with great success, and in addition to providing the functional and technical support you would expect, they also act as a sounding board for our technical team for developing custom solutions for our environment.
As part of Covanta’s IT transformation, our strategy was to deliver high value projects to our internal customers. And in order to achieve this, we sought strategic business partners to help us provide support for all of our technology solutions.
We first learned of Rimini Street at a Gartner conference, where after performing our due diligence, we recognized that in addition to filling the support role, we were able to re-architect our entire ERP platform and save over a million dollars annually as a part of this initiative.
When we first started with Rimini Street, the focus was initially just to meet the immediate needs of the business and remain supported. But there were direct savings by moving to Rimini Street support and those savings have added up over the years into millions of dollars. We got to know Rimini Street because back in 2013, we were going through some significant M&A. We were also going through a rollout of Oracle to 30 countries around the world, and we really couldn’t spend the time and the effort on doing an upgrade.
We are now a Rimini ONE™ client with both support, core support and AMS support. We’re actually gonna expand it further with Rimini Connect™ as well.
[Rimini Street] are advising us how to set up our environments to meet the needs of interoperability with browser, hardware, operating system, databases. So it’s an ongoing relationship that continuously evolves.
So when you look at organizations like Rimini Street, what you’re looking for is the types of people they employ, people who are passionate about doing the right thing, doing it right first time. It’s important that we have confidence in those people. I’ve had the opportunity to meet a lot of their executives who show big interest in what their employees are doing and also shows that they care about those employees. And that’s important for BrandSafway. It shows the right type of culture that will encourage, develop and keep those resources for the long term.
