“The IGEL operating system is very stable, requires virtually no maintenance and hardly ever needs to be updated. The Linux-based software thin clients also require no antivirus programs which would need to be updated.”
"We like the IGEL UMS because it is easy to configure and makes the management of the IGEL thin clients virtually hands-free for our IT team. Previous to IGEL, some of our processes were manual, and often required an on-site technician to troubleshoot or configure desktop clients. Now we can do this from one central location, which saves time and reduces costs.”
"It didn’t take us long to realize that the IGEL UD Pocket was exactly what we had been looking for to provide our CAD students with secure access to their graphics-intensive design applications.”
"I have had a number of the Leadership Team pull me aside to just say how great their new IGEL solution is. Faster and easier to use than their previous desktop. It was also mentioned how great it was to see something that they had approved at the Change Board being delivered in front of their eyes and to their benefi t in a matter of weeks. As one person said that’s real delivery.”
“Following the merger, we were able to have two icons on the device at startup; one pointing to Aberdeen Standard Investments and one to Standard Life’s technology infrastructure. This has been a huge benefit for our migration teams. They can deploy one IGEL managed device and not worry about which users will be using it and which technology infrastructure they need to connect through to.”
"Students love the new system. In the old Kilmarnock Campus, some of the PCs were nearing end-of-life and were about to be decommissioned. Now everything is a lot quicker and they get the same experience irrespective of the device. This means they can jump from one to another and it’s the same experience.”
“Installing traditional desktop PCs was initially considered but rejected as it didn’t give the freedom or flexibility for students to work. Instead, we’ve invested in a Citrix XenDesktop VDI platform to create an environment where students can log in from wherever they are to access their own personal desktop profile and applications.”
“Given that our workload was increasing, we began thinking about how we could permanently minimize operational tasks about two years ago. We also wanted to have more time for strategic tasks in the future.”
"What sold us on IGEL was the Management Console – hands down IGEL is better than any of its competitors at centrally managing endpoints residing within cloud and virtualized computing environments.”
"With IGEL and Parallels, we are able to solve a majority of HIPAA issues due to the secure method in which we deliver virtual desktops to the end user.”
"We were inspired by how eff ortlessly Skype for Business was integrated with the help of IGEL. Other providers always failed, but IGEL won us over right away. We also appreciate the ease of management available through the UMS – and we have not looked back since choosing IGEL.”
"In my view, the IGEL deployment with two displays has improved staff productivity and staff retention, because everything is now much easier for them to do. The staff love it and they are now free to interact with customers and provide the Druids Glen experience without barriers from their IT system.”
“We need around 100 thin clients so that our therapists can play back recordings of meetings with adequate quality via the network or locally.”
"Providing critical technology and services to help the homeless."
“We ran a development of the web application, which took longer than we thought. But for the actual roll-out of IGEL the switch was made at 66 places. At the same time we changed screens/ monitors at most of the places. We have about 40 local IT-supports, which are run from our office, who were out and did the change, and that took about 2 months, and for the most part the change went very quickly and easily. It went smoothly. For all the places we needed to update the firmware on all the thin clients when they were rolled out, and that also went very well.”
