“Currently we are using the student information system, the learning management system, and the special education program. Each teacher has 12 students. They are all different levels. Everything from 4th grade to 12th grade and every subject area. We are using the LMS to provide mastery and personalized learning for our students so that they can learn the information that they need to learn at their level in time for what they need. Our goal is that our kids when they leave us, they either leave with a high school diploma, the GED, or they are at or above grade level. When they reenter their high school, we want them to be able to be at their level and not have to be retained a year or two and then drop out because they don’t want to do that. We are finding that our kids are very successful in our model of allowing them to move at their own pace. One of my students says they are ‘learning as fast as their brain can hold it’. It’s all about getting the information to them at a pace and a time that allows them to learn.”
