Overall, the simplicity of OnBoard is it's strongest feature. With minimal training, our admins were able to quickly begin creating meetings and board packs. Simply put, OnBoard is a highly effective system that does exactly what we need it to do, without a mass of unnecessary features. It's also worth commenting on the strength of Passageways customer support. Our account manager worked very closely with us through every step of the implementation process, helping us with the initial setup of the system as well as training for our admins. Passageways also setup a number of training sessions for our Trustees, ensuring they were completely comfortable using the platform before go-live, which has lead to a high level of user adoption.
"The first meeting we had, the experience was not of that of a technology, the experience was a board meeting. Directors didn’t even realize that we didn’t have to put any effort into learning OnBoard, even administrators put very little effort into learning. We were just like Holy Cow, everybody’s already got their meeting set up. It just started happening."
"All documents are in one spot and no one has to remember who emailed what or where any document has been placed. They can quickly reference the one location easily. I can't imagine ever going back to using paper, and how much time it took to do that."
“OnBoard has been critical because while it makes all of us more efficient, it especially makes [Sarah] more efficient. She and I now have more time to have strategic conversations. We can go to our revenue department with trends and opportunities that we’re seeing to grant more wishes. But we can’t do any of that if she’s having to spend three hours a day building a board packet or going back and forth with board members on email.”
“The pre-read is so easy and accessible now. Once we create the book, board members can go in there and review the information. Once we actually meet, they have already seen the information they need to see. The meeting is now really about constructive conversation on moving the needle.”
“When the world stopped, we were planning for our annual conference in San Diego. In the days leading up to it, we had multiple calls and several emergency meetings of the executive committee. It all happened quite quickly. I was able to pull together the agenda and all the materials in OnBoard quickly and shoot that out to people. Even though they only had a day to prep for this meeting where they had to make some very important decisions, they had everything they needed right at their fingertips.”
“For Elizabeth and for all of us, it was ‘Let’s get with the century. Let’s get with the times and start doing things a little differently."
“I would have to print out 16 packets and have one of our couriers take the time to drive around town and hand-deliver each one. The packets were anywhere from 50 to 75 pages each and we were meeting monthly. It would often take me a full day to get everything prepared.”
"Our previous platform was a challenge from the get-go. The concept was great, but it just didn't work for us. I felt hopeless at every board meeting because many of the board members regularly had difficulties accessing the existing portal and their documents."
“We found ourselves spending a lot of time doing document preparation. Board packets sometimes consisted of 600-page license applications that included correspondence, white papers, etc. We were shipping these to board members all across the state. And Alaska is really, really, big and really, really rural.”
“OnBoard made us much more nimble, I’m approving loans on Saturday morning while I’m having my coffee, or on Sunday night while sitting on the couch. I don’t have 50 loans to pick up and take care of on Tuesday because we’ve had those approved during the week."
“OnBoard makes everybody better at their position because it forces you to become more organized. At the meeting, you’ve got the information you need to make a better decision and help you do a better job.”
“I’m always concerned that the board members have plenty of time to review the materials. Our board packet last month had almost 500 pages to it. But they had time to review it and to ask questions prior to the meeting. I see that as part of improving the organization and helping it in the effort to reach its goals.”
“What used to take my administrative assistant days now takes an hour. The board members have read the materials and come to meetings more prepared. It's definitely a better situation.”
"Boards, committees, and other deliberative bodies need to be able to conduct secure, focused, effective, and productive meetings. They can do that by using OnBoard’s comprehensive suite of secure virtual meetings tools."
