Lever FAQs

  • Who is Lever best for - their role(s) within what kind of companies.

Lever is designed for anyone who's ever rolled their eyes when using their company's ATS, whether they are recruiters, sourcers, recruiting coordinators, hiring managers, interviewers or executives. Founded in 2012, Lever set out to bring a far higher degree of usability to a neglected category of software.

Customers range from small companies using recruiting software for the first time, to enterprises with thousands of employees. Our sweet spot is companies up to around 15,000 employees. We got our start in the tech sector, but today span a wide range of industries, with customers ranging from Cirque du Soleil and Hot Topic to KPMG New Zealand and the Toronto International Film Festival. We serve customers headquartered in 40 countries around the world, with a concentration in the US and Canada, Europe, and Australia/ New Zealand.

  • How technical do users need to be to use Lever's software?

One of the major advantages of using Lever is that it's designed with all the users in mind - recruiters, hiring managers, interviewers and more. Users tend to describe Lever as easy-to-use, straightforward, and intuitive. As a result, you'll find it easier to roll out across your organization than typical enterprise software.

  • What makes Lever a leader in this space?

    1) Our recruiting vision. From the beginning, we understood that recruiting today is NOT just about applicants - it's also about passive candidates, whose process is different to that of active applicants. As a result, companies need the technology to source and nurture potential candidates as well as to manage active applicants and all those who make it into the formal process. We are the only ATS that was built with both passive candidates and active applicants in mind from the very start.

    2) Our product philosophy. We build powerful products that incorporate automation, intelligence and design in order to help teams collaborate and be as effective as possible at hiring.

-- We leverage automation to help our customers be super-productive. Recruiters don't get into recruiting for the love of the administrative tasks, so we've done our best to automate those away via features like Easy Book (natively built automated interview scheduling), two-way email sync and calendar sync.

-- We leverage intelligence to help our customers confidently and quickly understand how they're doing, improve their processes and accelerate hiring. Our data is structured in a way that helps us deliver the cleanest, most actionable reporting and analytics in the industry.

-- We leverage design to drive maximum adoption of Lever across the organization. The result is higher degrees of buy-in and collaboration in one of your company's most critical activities.

Our culture has also been a huge factor in helping us build great relationships with our customers. We are founded on design thinking (meaning we listen a lot and seek to understand the 'why' behind feedback and feature requests), and we are passionate about building a diverse, inclusive organization. Today our team has 50:50 gender balance and is 40% non-white.

  • Who are Lever's biggest competitors (3-5 companies)?

    In alphabetical order:
    Greenhouse
    iCIMS
    Jobvite
    SmartRecruiters

  • How/why is Lever better than those competitors (or most others in their market)? What about Lever is unique, stronger, easier, etc.?

    1) Simplicity of interface. It takes fewer clicks to do everything in Lever.
    2) Understanding the importance of sourcing from the start, so that we are the only ATS that helps companies handle hiring holistically in one seamless system. That means no spreadsheets on the side for sourced candidates, for instance. In particular, our sourcing-focused product Lever Nurture is unmatched in the market.
    3) Design focus. We're inspired by the 'future of work' and the need to put highly usable, delightful software in the hands of all who experience it (internally at your company, as well as externally as candidates)

  • Which popular or common software does Lever integrate with?

We integrate off-the-shelf with 50 or more other products including Google's G-Suite, Office 365, LinkedIn Recruiter (we are a preferred partner of LinkedIn Talent Solutions), Slack, Entelo, HackerRank, Namely, BambooHR, Zenefits and many more. See https://lever.co/integrations for more details.

We have also built integrations with all the major HRIS suites such as Workday and SAP SuccessFactors so that companies like Netflix, Etsy, Bazaarvoice and more can use Lever as their best-of-breed ATS-CRM while using the rest of the suite around Lever.

  • Software pricing can often be complex. If it's pretty straightforward, list tiers, pricing (per year, seat, etc) and limits for Lever. If it's not simple, use broad estimates or ranges for typical setups.

Lever is built to scale with organizations. We offer three different plans for companies based on the complexity of their needs: Starter, Professional, and Enterprise.
Pricing for Lever Hire, our core ATS-CRM hybrid, varies according to which plan you choose, as well as how many employees you have. Costs start around $4-5K for our smallest customers, and go well into six figures for our largest customers.

There is an additional cost to add Lever Nurture, which is designed to help companies source passive candidates much more effectively, and Lever Talent Intelligence, our advanced analytics module.

  • Does Lever offer a trial or free download available?
