“What was important to me was to choose a platform that I felt would be super user-friendly and fun so that our volunteers would have to put minimal work in but would get a lot out of it. That's where we found Givebutter and we're so happy to have found it. I absolutely would love to use this platform again next year—even if we're in person—because I felt like it was so user-friendly and fun and helped spread the word so quickly. We're thinking that we’ll never go back to fully in-person; it may just be hybrid from now on.”
“We’ve found Givebutter to be very user friendly. Whenever somebody donates to a particular [team member], that information goes immediately into our donor system and it's all linked. We're saving quite a bit of money in staff time just to be able to make the donations appear in our donor system. I think being able to use the live video aspect on Givebutter was very helpful for us, especially because we had that quick change to a virtual event. I think it was really fun for our [team fundraisers] and our donors to feel like they were all still together, even though we couldn't physically be together. What's great about Givebutter is it’s so easy to use both in person and virtual.”
"I think something really unique about our Givebutter experience so far is that the platform plays well for Millennials in that it’s got the integrations with Venmo, PayPal, and all of that kind of stuff. And it also passes the test for foundations or elderly folks who are looking to give larger amounts and things of that nature. So we have people’s grandmothers giving as well as, you know, someone’s 10-year-old wanted to give in their name. So it’s been very cool to see that 10-90 age range that have all connected and worked with that platform."
“We also did the peer-to-peer part of it. That's one of the things that drew us to [the Givebutter] platform: the easy, seamless way to do tickets, peer-to-peer, and a live event all within the same page. Everything lived in the same place, and I think having all of those three things working together really helped us.”
“There definitely is a very human element to [Givebutter]. When I’d think, “Oh, I just wish I could customize this,” I could send either an email or a chat to Givebutter and they'd usually get back to me the same day. They'd either say, “Okay, great suggestion. We're going to put that on our queue.” Or sometimes they'd say, “Okay, we're going to do it,” and just make that change right away. I really appreciated that Givebutter is a learning organization and is really prioritizing the needs of nonprofits and is very responsive to nonprofits. And that queue is moving along! I just really appreciate {Givebutter’s] responsiveness to nonprofits.”
“When I started using the [Givebutter] platform and seeing how it worked, I was just amazed at how organized everything was, how user-friendly it was. We wanted people to be able to donate and buy tickets—which Givebutter does so well. After using it successfully for more complicated events, it was just super easy to be able to say, “Yeah, we can use this for our Housing Heroes event!”
“I found that experience—being able to see in real time who was donating and also read the comments that people left—to be really gratifying. I didn't expect there to be another community aspect to the fundraising part of this, but the comments that people were able to leave—and the fact that we were able to respond to them and like them—it just felt like there was this other place where we were able to have a conversation with our people again. I loved that part of [using Givebutter]."
“Every time that we've reached out [to Givebutter], everyone that I've ever talked to has been so quick and willing to help. We really, really appreciate that; that's been huge. I even had one week—in one of our first weeks on—during a stream, I was having problems with something going live. I was able to get someone and we were able to fix it while the stream was going. That was great! The accessibility and the help. One of the [fundraising] tips I would say is to be sure to reach out to [Givebutter support]. I have appreciated the responsiveness and the help on that.”
“[Using Givebutter has] been great! If we have an issue or somebody goes online and they made a mistake with their donation (or whatever the issue might be), we can get through to someone who can help us with that. If we want to change something in the campaign—you realize you made a mistake and there's a typo or something—you can go in there and fix that easily on the backend. I also like the fact that it integrates with Bloomerang. As soon as someone makes a donation on this page, it automatically is integrated into Bloomerang, so I don't have to go in there and enter the gift myself. If there are any adjustments that we need to make, it's fairly simple to make. So far, it's been a good experience. We’ve enjoyed it!”
“That was one of the ways that we used Givebutter too. We changed the story, we changed the teams, and changed multiple things on the page as the day went on to match the content of what we were doing. It was very quick to do, and it was really cool being able to just swap it out so that people could donate to something else. It was really fun.”
"We looked at a ton of different websites and the thing we kept on running into was really high fees. We were really intent that all the money donated should be going to these organizations, as much as possible. There was talking about us covering the fees, but pretty soon we'd be paying a lot. We didn't know how much money we were going to raise, but we're really glad we didn't offer to cover the fees now. Once we started looking at [Givebutter], we were like this is clearly leaps and bounds above the other platforms in terms of the fees being low. Also it was very clear. There were lots of options to customize, to kind of make the campaign our own—which we were figuring out what exactly we wanted fundraising to look like and how to engage people. Givebutter seemed to have a lot of options for how to do that."
“Can I give a quick shout out to the Givebutter team? Because of those [team fundraisers]. There were a lot of them and it seemed really overwhelming to me. When I chat-boxed you guys, within a minute I had help and you guys set it up on your end which was amazing. I was not expecting that. It's great for people to know that there's really a support team on the backend. And it continued throughout the campaign. I was able to reach them quickly and get support. There was always someone there to back me which was really helpful.”
“We really just built [the campaign], got people signed up for their teams, and from there it just spread like wildfire. There's not a lot of hand-holding you have to do once the event is happening. Givebutter was so easy. I can just say [to team fundraisers] “Follow this link and then Givebutter will take you through your page tutorial.” Givebutter goes through one, two, and three steps—and then they know the page.”
“I love using the Givebutter platform. In the past, we've tried other platforms and I've had the most positive experience with Givebutter. I think that the donor engagement is really awesome on Givebutter. I love how it tells the story and it's presented in such a friendly way. I think having the customizable donation amounts really brings it home. It makes it personal. It makes it something that we can all comprehend. [Givebutter provided] the ability to customize our campaign and our donation level, so people can really make sense of their donation. They see our story, they see our ask, and then they're directly able to click that button and complete that ask. I think that's a really special and unique part of Givebutter as well.”
“We liked that we could livestream our event and enable our donors to make a contribution without leaving the platform for the Livestream. In any other platform that you're using, if the giving function is not there, they have to go away from the event to make that gift. We don't want to lose anyone; we wanted to make sure that people continued to stay engaged with us while they were making a gift. This [Givebutter] platform made the best sense for us.”
