"I’ve been using Remix a lot to flesh out a lot of ideas that I have, both in terms of potential and new bus routes and for making modifications to existing routes. It’s a really great way to put lines and stops down on a map and try to gauge whether or not that’s going to work in real life."
"Remix is extremely quick in comparison to laying something out in other mapping and layout products for corridors. The product is really turnkey, and the ability to upload and use our own data in Remix is huge."
“When planning, we're always trying to figure out commuter patterns. Remix provides that information in a very simple and visual way."
"Remix makes the manual process of planning transit automatic. Remix helps me visualize options and test out different solutions on the fly."
"It's crucial to have accurate data to see the inequities of access to transportation."
“We could pull Remix up on the screen in every meeting and say, ‘Okay, I’d like to see the route go down this street,’ and we could see roughly how much that would cost us in real time.”
"I have definitely gotten good insights from the Transpo Talk community and good leads on presentation resources. It's nice to feel connected to others who are dealing with the exact same issues. We may not have a lot of answers yet, but it really helps knowing I am not alone in this quickly paced work!"
“With Remix, it’s so much easier than any tool we’ve ever used. We want everything to come back to Remix so we have it in place for future modifications.”
“Everything from long-range, 20-year long-range planning all the way down to operator scheduling, runcutting, bidding, bid administration, and every step in between. We do long-range planning, we do short-range planning, we do annual budget developments, we do both short-range and long-range service planning and changes, route expansions and improvements, project implementation. We also have a large role in technology implementation and projects, so right now we’re in the middle of the implementation of our automated vehicle location system. We do our routine service and schedule changes, which includes assembling and administering the bidding process. This part of the year, we’re starting on our annual budgeting process for trading out budgets for the next year, our operating budget and our capital budget, which we do every year for a 10-year window. Also, we do a lot of grant work.”
“It’s easy because in Remix, instead of doing the whole route, you can just say, OK, what does it look like if we just go from here to Barstow. That’s what I really like about it. I don’t have to actually drive it, or time it. I don’t want to drive all the way, three hours roundtrip, from Needles!”
“Imagine being able to visually demonstrate how the change of bus routes would affect population coverage and at the same time show the financial cost – all at the click of a mouse. With Remix, people see trade-offs between planning decisions in seconds, in a way that is easy to understand.”
"I think it’s pretty safe to say what we’ve done, because of having Remix, we would not have been able to do without it. The difference is between doing it and not doing it, in a sense. Without Remix, it would’ve been impossible."
“We’re a small rural transit agency, but we want to be on the front line. To be able to be nimble and proactive and make changes is invaluable for us.”
“There are a lot of ways to skin a cat. We would draw it out, where we thought the proposed termini were, along with the proposed route, and that quickly gives us an estimate of not only the service hours and miles for each of those scenarios, roughly how many people and jobs and other demographic factors are nearby.”
“When you try to communicate to audiences goals, objectives, and strategies, it’s really difficult to show them, ‘what is improved access? What does that look like? We can use Remix to paint that picture visually. We can communicate to our elected officials and our planners why these are important objectives and strategies.”
