“Because it’s a great tool that allows us to build solutions very quickly and deploy them somewhere that can scale to whatever we need.”
“From the start, we didn’t want all our energy focused on infrastructure management and time-intensive tasks like running updates. Moving to Google Cloud freed up time for our IT developers to stay focused on improving the services we offer to our clients.”
"Our user base is huge and we have partnerships with all the telco companies across Indonesia. To avoid bottlenecks, we needed a solution that would be able to handle peak traffic at any time, and we found Google Cloud to be the most reliable."
“Google Cloud Platform was the natural choice because it let us quickly build a virtual server farm of 150 servers — one server for each incoming data stream. Plus, data can be sent from Google Cloud Platform to YouTube for free, which reduced project costs. In addition, Sky News is an ISP with huge links to Google, so we knew the video streams wouldn’t suffer degradation as they travelled from Google Compute Engine to our studios in London.”
“Google's a big brand and it has invested accordingly in their compliance and security certification over the years. For a startup like ourselves to do all that is prohibitively expensive. For Logflare to comply with these standards, we would have had to spend a significant proportion of our initial funding on compliance. We've inherited high quality security from Google, and so there’s a big comfort factor for our customers.”
“Google’s global presence is absolutely fundamental for us. There are so many issues around where your data resides. The fact that you can have your data either in country or in region where there are the appropriate legislative regulatory controls, is crucial for us and our customers.”
“The main advantage of Google Cloud Platform for us is Google BigQuery. You don't have to think about the configuration of instances or the storage size or anything to do with development. As an analyst, I’m used to dealing with developers and administrators but with Google BigQuery I don’t need any support. It leaves me free to just think about the data.”
“The drive toward Google Cloud Platform was to get beyond performance bottlenecks and leverage Google machine learning on a cloud platform that scales and is cost effective.”
“It was so easy to deploy and test Google Cloud Machine Learning Engine without making any commitments or investments, especially since Google sweetens the deal with a credit for trying its services.”
"Google's product range is completely flexible: it gives us free rein over the deployment, coordination, and monitoring of our apps."
“Google Cloud Speech API performs highly accurate speech-to-text transcription in near-real-time. The higher accuracy rates mean we can help dealers get the most out of phone interactions with their customers and increase sales.”
“Google Cloud Platform had the worldwide presence we needed and, as a cloud platform, required minimal administration by our internal team. It could also meet our scalability and peak usage requirements, while being reliable enough to support a critical element of Clash of Kings.”
“We grew so quickly that we were just tagging new functions onto our system as we needed them, until eventually the whole thing didn’t work.”
“To do continuous deployment right, you need a lot of tools, and Google Cloud Platform provides them. We just push a button and we know exactly what we are deploying. That means we have fewer regressions and can be very confident as we move forward.”
Cost is always a driving factor, but we’d actually pay more for a better service. Thankfully, we don’t have to make that choice. We’ve never had to struggle with Google Cloud Platform and it’s 40 to 50% cheaper than its competitors. Part of that was due to the simplicity of calculating costs. The GCP console and documentation make it very clear and easy to work out what to do, while other cloud providers made it difficult to work out pricing ahead of time and offered six different services where GCP has one. Compare that to GCP’s sustained usage discount which gives us an ever increasing discount as we go through the month. It’s a no-brainer.”
