"Diskeeper is rock solid, does what it’s supposed to do, and does not break like 80% of all other software. Window’s built-in defrag could keep the server functional, but it was a manual process. If you are handy with writing scripts you could schedule it but for us it was not worth the time. Diskeeper runs automatically with a thorough, deep defrag process. We run Diskeeper on all of our servers to keep them at optimal performance. I have been using it for 12 years and have not been disappointed in any way. “I consider Diskeeper to be a valuable tool and am very pleased with our deployment of it. We have Diskeeper Administrator running on our internal domain and use it to deploy and manage our Diskeeper clients. We have defrag policies set up and use them to keep production running. I personally like the ease of use the Admin Console gives me to manage and deploy new installs on our network. With just a few clicks I can edit defrag policies to fit our production needs as we bring up different workloads and shifts. Before we just used the built-in defrag tool in Windows to defrag servers and PCs. By using Diskeeper and the Admin Console, I can automate all of that and know that it is being done. Each morning I have scheduled reports which run to inform us of the current fragmentation levels and performance indicators. I also have it set up to email when a new upgrade is ready and can see all the machines it is installed on and what version they are running. This makes my task of managing these systems so much easier for me and my co-workers.”

Defragging drives on Server1 (both target and source drives) with Diskeeper helped boost throughput by 67%, the average throughput increased from 7MB/s to 11.7MB/s for 5 concurrent drive backups. The longest runtime for any backup job in that group was 10 hours. Defragging the target drives on Server2 increased throughput by 73%, the average throughput increased from 5.9MB/s to 10.2MB/s for 6 concurrent drive backups. The longest runtime for any backup job in that group was = 11.5hrs. Consequently, all tape protection operations ran properly and according to schedules with no data sets missed.”

“Here are some metrics numbers on our environment as reported by the Diskeeper job report. It’s pretty impressive. We run over 900 Windows servers here at UK Healthcare. Around 600 are physical, and 300 are virtual. We run Diskeeper on almost all of these. We use various SAN backbones and an IBM SVC SAN controller. Diskeeper has also been used on SAN connected drives as well. We run dozens of different applications, mostly of a healthcare nature. Our primary clinical application is Allscript’s Sunrise Clinical Manager. We publish that through Citrix and it is run entirely on Windows OS’s, which are all running Diskeeper."
