“This demand could be real, projected, or hypothetical. We use the application to simulate the outcome of a particular scenario, and Workload Modeller stores the outcome as a table in the database. This means we can describe and analyse the simulated turnout data (attendance time, responding station, hour by hour utilisation) using exactly the same powerful tools which we use on historic data. Simulations like this can be valuable in modelling the impact of changes in demand, the removal or relocation of services, varying resources at stations, introducing new vehicle types such as TRVs, changing staffing levels and shift patterns and simulating disaster scenarios.”
