"My first year as an elected municipal tax collector I used the prior tax collector’s system: Excel. It gave me pause to wonder what I had gotten myself into! I couldn’t believe Excel or QuickBooks were the only two choices open to tax collectors. I went on-line to find a software system just for municipal tax collectors and I couldn’t find one. I wasn’t looking forward to the rest of my 4 year term and I wasn’t planning to run for a 2nd term. Just before my 2nd year started, I got a post card from MTS about their tax collector software system. I didn’t hesitate to buy it. I paid for it myself. I was nervous at the end of my 2nd year wondering if my totals would be accurate using MTS. And they were! There were some issues in the first couple of years but Rudy Muhr @ MTS was only a phone call or email away. (Doesn’t he EVER go on vacation?) I never had to wait more than a few hours to receive a response to an email or phone call. It has been my pleasure working with the MTS software system and worth the investment. It saves so much time. And our township accountant appreciates the accuracy of the reports at year end. I actually ran for a 2nd term and was re-elected in 2012. I’d never want to collect taxes without MTS.
