Frequently Asked Questions
Describe who the software is best for - their role(s) within what kind of companies.
Since we're a mobile testing company, you'll first have to have a mobile app to find Apptimize useful. We've found that the teams that have benefitted most from our software tend to have more than 100,000 monthly active users on their apps. Given that qualification, we serve both mobile-first companies as well as larger companies for which mobile is an important part of overall strategy.
How does this software benefit them?
The Apptimize Platform empowers teams to innovate faster while creating internal operational efficiencies across Product, Marketing, and Engineering. Apptimize’s infrastructure enables continuous iteration at scale to compound wins in conversion and engagement rates, ultimately generating ROI for your business.
Now what does this mean? It depends on who you are. If you are a product manager, it means that you can gradually roll out new features, thereby de-risking new releases and validating performance before a full release. If you are a developer, you won't be bothered with small visual changes; our visual editor allows non-technical members of the team to launch A/B tests on their own. As a data scientist, you now can do analysis based on better data (and validate the robustness of our tests, if you'd like). Everyone on the product team benefits.
Regardless of who you are, Apptimize will able you to learn more about your users through simple, effective testing.
How technical do users need to be to use the software?
It depends on the use case! No technical knowledge is required to deploy tests on the visual editor, but more familiarity with development is useful when dealing with experiments involving code blocks and dynamic variables.
What makes Apptimize a leader in this space?
Whereas other platforms have focused on web, we have focused on mobile from the beginning. And whereas other competitors have focused on a range of people who could do A/B testing, we focused specifically on building the best-in-class platform for mobile product teams.
Who are your biggest competitors (3-5 companies)?
Optimizely; Leanplum; Swrve.
How/why is Apptimize better than those competitors (or most others in their market)? What about it is unique, stronger, easier, etc.?
Optimizely's mobile A/B testing is secondary to their web optimization platform; our primary focus, from the beginning, has been mobile A/B. Moreover, we have been focused specifically on creating a platform for product teams, and product managers. That separates us from Leanplum and Swrve, which are built (and marketed) more towards mobile marketers.
Apptimize also operates on a high level from a statistical robustness standpoint. This, again, is geared towards the product managers who might frequently be working with data scientists.
What kind of features can customers expect to see in the near future? And longer term?
Advanced allocation and cross-platform experimentation are just a few things. Outside of product, increased mobile strategy assistance is a potential opportunity.
Which popular or common software does your product integrate with?
Short answer: Amplitude, Appboy, Mixpanel, Segment, mParticle.
Longer answer: Apptimize has support for a number of third party integrations, either via an integration kit or directly from the SDK. Each integration supports either data exporting from Apptimize to the third party, data importing from the third party to Apptimize, or both. You can find them here: https://apptimize.com/docs/additional-features/third-party-integrations/
Software pricing can often be complex. If it's pretty straightforward, list tiers, pricing (per year, seat, etc), limits, etc. If it's not simple, use broad estimates or ranges for typical setups.
Under 100,000 monthly active users on your mobile app, it's $995/mo. Anything above is either custom, or an additional $995 for each 100,000 additional MAU.
Is there a trial or free download available?
Yes - there's a 30 day free trial which you can access upon signup.
What kind of training/education is offered?
We have online documentation open to everybody. You can take a look for yourself here: https://apptimize.com/docs/
Besides the docs, we have a resource page explaining the A/B testing space more generally. You can find it here: https://apptimize.com/resources
Paying customers receive an extensive array of support, ranging from mobile testing strategy to technical implementation.
Describe the implementation process and timeline.
You'll need to install our SDK, which takes only about 10 minutes.
What are the support options? List all.
Training and implementation support; testing strategist; dedicated customer success manager.
